How to Use This Guide

Arc 1 teaches the applied form of Traditional Objectivism at every level of human cooperation — from individual decisions to enterprise-level markets. The arc contains nine content units organized across four levels, plus this introduction. Each unit ships concrete tools you can use immediately.

This guide maps the full sequence. Use it to see where you are going, to track your progress, and to understand how each unit's tools connect to the ones before and after it. The arc assumes sequential reading — each level builds on the previous one — but the guide lets you see the whole architecture before you begin.

The Arc at a Glance

Table 2.1.0-1 — Arc 1 Unit Map

Level Unit Title Core Move Tools Shipped
Individual (2.1.1) Rational Egoism as Daily Practice Decision discipline: map choices to values, values to costs, costs to owners Value path, tradeoff ledger, decision canvas
(2.1.2) The Seven Virtues as Operating Disciplines Character architecture: weekly self-audit of seven behavioral disciplines Virtue operating card
(2.1.3) Money, Time, and Focus as Moral Architecture Resource alignment: test whether allocation matches stated values Budget-as-architecture template, calendar audit, energy map, individual practice dashboard
Team (2.1.4) The Trader Principle Among Chosen Associates Cooperation terms: define contributions, returns, and exit Payoff table, commitments contract
(2.1.5) Independence Within Cooperation Character under pressure: protect judgment inside the group Independence audit, honest feedback practice, team practice summary
Organization (2.1.6) Rights as Institutional Architecture Governance: encode non-coercion as enforceable policy Rights boundary test, accountability ladder
(2.1.7) The Productive Organization Diagnostic discipline: test the institution's record for value created and honest disclosure, trace what it shows to persons Value creation audit, internal-external alignment test
Enterprise (2.1.8) Rights, Rule of Law, and Voluntary Exchange Infrastructure: make rights enforceable across jurisdictions Enterprise rights assessment, voluntary exchange conditions checklist
(2.1.9) Value Creation, Not Value Extraction Moral distinction: separate productive enterprise from its corruption Value creation vs. extraction diagnostic

The Progression Logic

The arc scales one principle — TO's ethical core — through four levels of coordination:

Individual teaches you to practice TO on yourself: your decisions, your character, your resources. If the practice does not work here, it cannot work anywhere.

Team teaches you to practice TO with chosen associates: people you cooperate with voluntarily. The Trader Principle structures the terms; independence protects the judgment.

Organization teaches you to practice TO within institutions: entities large enough that personal relationships cannot carry governance. Rights become architecture. Character becomes institutional.

Enterprise teaches you to practice TO across systems: markets, jurisdictions, and multi-organizational networks. Rule of law scales the rights. Voluntary exchange gets structural tests. Capitalism meets its own moral standard — or fails it.

Each level adds complexity without abandoning the foundation. The virtues you practice as an individual are the same virtues you audit at the enterprise level — the scale changes, the moral logic does not.

What This Arc Does Not Cover

Arc 1 teaches character. It does not teach method (how to correct errors, update beliefs, or cooperate under disagreement) — that is Arc 2, which layers Open Objectivism's disciplines onto this foundation. It does not teach structural architecture (how to make the practice hold under modern complexity, adversarial conditions, and institutional capture) — that is Arc 3, which applies Resilient Objectivism's design patterns.

The sequence is deliberate: character before method before structure. What follows depends on what you build here.

Change Log
  • 27 Aug 26 — Reworded the (2.1.7) table row's "Core Move" description (previously "Institutional character: productiveness, honesty, and pride at scale") to match that unit's corrected framing — organizations do not hold virtue the way individuals do.
  • 26 Aug 26 — Corrected "Resilient Objectivism's innovations" to "Resilient Objectivism's design patterns."
  • 18 Mar 26 — Initial publication. A structural map sidebar giving a navigable overview of Arc 1's full unit sequence, tools, and progression logic.
