The Individual Practice Dashboard 2.1.3-4

Structural Map Sidebar — Unit 2.1.3

Seeing the System Whole

Units (2.1.1) through (2.1.3) each close their own loop — rational egoism as decision discipline, the Seven Virtues as operating behaviors, and money/time/focus as moral architecture. But the three loops are not independent. They form a single system: the individual-level operating practice of Traditional Objectivism.

The individual practice dashboard makes that system visible on one page. It maps every tool from the three units, shows how they connect, and specifies the cadence at which each runs. A reader who posts this dashboard has a complete view of what individual TO practice requires — and where to look when something drifts.

The Dashboard

Table 2.1.3-4 — Individual Practice Dashboard

The complete individual-level TO practice system. Print or copy. Each tool has a defined cadence and a defined purpose.

Tool Source Unit Purpose Cadence
Value path (2.1.1) Translate rational egoism into a decision discipline: goal → action → tradeoff → cost owner Every significant decision (60 seconds)
Tradeoff ledger (2.1.1) Track decisions, values served, costs borne, and cost owners; surface hidden subsidies Ongoing; review weekly
Decision canvas (2.1.1) Structure consequential choices: goal, options, evidence, cost owners, review date Every high-stakes decision (10–15 minutes)
Virtue operating card (2.1.2) Weekly self-audit of all Seven Virtues: daily expression, failure mode, audit question Weekly (5 minutes)
Budget-as-architecture template (2.1.3) Map spending to values; identify hidden subsidies; track debt as risk to integrity Monthly first quarter, then quarterly
Calendar audit (2.1.3) Reconstruct one week's time allocation against stated value priorities; identify drift sources Monthly first quarter, then quarterly
Energy map (2.1.3) Log cognitive sharpness across the day; align highest-value work with peak-capacity hours One-week baseline; revisit quarterly
Focus architecture (2.1.3) Audit noise sources, set default protections, design decision windows around peak energy Set up once; revisit quarterly

How the Tools Connect

The dashboard is not a collection — it is a circuit. Each tool feeds the next:

The value path produces data about individual decisions. The tradeoff ledger accumulates that data into patterns. The patterns reveal hidden subsidies — costs borne for unchosen values. The budget-as-architecture template and the calendar audit test whether those patterns hold in the two domains where values are most concretely expressed: money and time. The energy map ensures that the highest-value work occupies the highest-capacity hours. The focus architecture protects those hours from environmental capture. And the virtue operating card audits the character that makes all of the above possible — catching drift in rationality, independence, integrity, honesty, justice, productiveness, and pride before it compounds.

The circuit has two speeds. The value path and the tradeoff ledger run continuously — they are the pulse of daily practice. The virtue operating card runs weekly — it is the character check. The budget, calendar, and energy map run monthly or quarterly — they are the structural audit. Together, the three speeds maintain alignment at every resolution: decision, character, and resource allocation.

What the Dashboard Does Not Cover

The dashboard captures individual practice only. It does not address team cooperation (2.1.4–2.1.5), organizational governance (2.1.6–2.1.7), or enterprise-scale systems (2.1.8–2.1.9). Those levels build on the individual foundation — the Trader Principle assumes a person who knows what they value, the rights boundary test assumes a person who can name their boundaries, and enterprise capitalism assumes a person who can distinguish value creation from extraction. None of these work without the individual practice already in place.

The dashboard also does not include the method corrections that Open Objectivism adds in Arc 2, or the structural tools that Resilient Objectivism adds in Arc 3. It is the TO foundation — complete on its own terms, and prerequisite for everything that follows.

Change Log
  • 18 Mar 26 — New sidebar created per individual-level audit findings. Integrates all individual-level tools from (2.1.1)–(2.1.3) into a single-page reference with connection logic and cadence specifications.
