The Map
This sidebar carries the reference layer for Arc 3. It maps the nine design patterns constructed in Arc 2 against the eight philosophical domains, showing where each carries primary load, secondary load, or does not structurally participate. Readers should use this map alongside the domain units (1.3.1–1.3.8) to audit the architecture's integration.
The map is organized by role — foundation, outward expression, operative form, test bench — not by a numbered sequence. Within each domain, innovations are listed by structural weight: primary carriers first, secondary carriers after.
Domain-by-Domain Innovation Mapping
Metaphysics — Reality as Design Anchor (Foundation)
Primary innovations: None. Metaphysics is a foundation the innovations rest on, not a domain they modify. TO's metaphysical realism — Existence Exists, identity is absolute, consciousness is a corollary axiom rather than a peer, causality is identity applied to action — is preserved without structural addition.
Secondary innovations: epistemic integrity (1.2.1) touches metaphysics through its truth-contact requirement; Restraint (1.2.3) respects causal constraints by bounding leverage to what reality permits.
Structural relationship: An axiomatic root, not derived from anything else. Together with consciousness, it grounds epistemology — metaphysics supplies what there is to know, consciousness supplies the faculty capable of knowing it.
Consciousness — Volitional Focus as Self-Calibration (Foundation)
Primary innovations: None in the doctrinal sense, and one contribution at the level of the domain itself rather than surrounding conditions: RO holds that machines are tools, not moral agents, since moral agency presupposes an entity facing a genuine alternative, which a machine does not face. RO does not otherwise modify the metaphysics of volitional consciousness that TO identified. This is the thinnest domain in terms of innovation load — and that thinness is honest.
Secondary innovations: Restraint (1.2.3) bounds complexity so attention is not overwhelmed. epistemic integrity (1.2.1) shortens the distance between effort and truth. privacy by design (1.2.4) protects the conditions for honest self-assessment. Answerability (1.2.7) reduces institutional noise that competes with honest focus.
Structural relationship: An axiomatic root alongside metaphysics, not a domain downstream of epistemology. Together with metaphysics, it grounds epistemology; it also bears directly on ethics through volition, independent of the epistemic chain.
Epistemology — Reason Under Feedback (Foundation)
Primary innovations: epistemic integrity (1.2.1) — truth-preservation built into systems through provenance, attestation, review cadence, and open artifacts. encoded objective law (1.2.2) — moral constraints encoded so that epistemic operations cannot be overridden silently. Answerability (1.2.7) — review structures that embed correction into institutional knowledge processes.
Secondary innovations: Restraint (1.2.3) bounds the scope of epistemic claims to what can be verified. Moral-Hazard Awareness (1.2.8) detects incentive structures that corrupt knowledge production.
Structural relationship: Depends on both metaphysics and consciousness — reality to know, a knower capable of knowing it. Passes auditable knowledge — tested, traceable, correctable — into ethics.
Ethics — Rational Egoism in Applied Form (Foundation)
Primary innovations: encoded objective law (1.2.2) — moral constraints encoded into operations so that ethics is executable in institutional form. Restraint (1.2.3) — bounds leverage and scope so that self-interest operates within structural limits. Moral-Hazard Awareness (1.2.8) — detects incentive corruption that turns ethical systems against their stated purposes.
Secondary innovations: engineered interdependence (1.2.5) provides the cooperation framework within which rational egoism operates among agents. epistemic integrity (1.2.1) ensures that moral claims remain testable.
Structural relationship: Depends on epistemology's verified knowledge and, for moral responsibility specifically, on volition directly. Ethics is the last of the four foundational domains — and the point from which the two outward expressions and the operative form all descend.
Politics — Rights as Structural Constraint (Outward Expression)
Primary innovations: encoded objective law (1.2.2) — rights encoded as hard limits in law, code, and process. bounded interdependence (1.2.6) — clean exit, meaningful recourse, and portability in every cooperative framework. Answerability (1.2.7) — governance structures designed to carry rights-protection across time. privacy by design (1.2.4) — the asymmetry between institutional transparency and personal opacity.
Secondary innovations: Moral-Hazard Awareness (1.2.8) detects the incentive structures through which institutional power erodes rights. engineered interdependence (1.2.5) provides the cooperation architecture that political systems depend on.
Structural relationship: Descends primarily from ethics and rights. A parallel expression of the foundational premises, alongside aesthetics — neither causes nor validates the other.
Aesthetics — Art as Systemic Reflection (Outward Expression)
Primary innovations: art as feedback (1.2.9) — a disciplined, prospective, falsifiable reading of cultural art as evidence of a civilization's dominant philosophical premises.
Secondary innovations: epistemic integrity (1.2.1) provides the verification discipline that distinguishes authentic cultural signal from performative noise.
Structural relationship: Descends primarily from metaphysics and consciousness, by way of psycho-epistemology — not from politics, and not from ethics. A parallel expression of the foundational premises, alongside politics — art concretizes a culture's premises independently of any theory of force.
Virtue — Integrity Under Complexity (Operative Form)
Primary innovations: Restraint (1.2.3) — the habit of operating within bounded scope as a structural virtue.
Secondary innovations: encoded objective law (1.2.2) provides the constraint framework within which virtues are practiced. Answerability (1.2.7) creates the structural conditions under which virtuous habits can sustain across time. Moral-Hazard Awareness (1.2.8) detects virtue drift — when virtues are performed rather than practiced. epistemic integrity (1.2.1)'s staged-judgment discipline — the timing function standalone resilience's fold preserved — bears on virtue's temporal dimension without becoming a primary carrier here.
Structural relationship: Not a domain between ethics and politics — the principled form ethics takes in action. Personal and volitional; no innovation can perform virtue for the agent, only shape the conditions around them.
Economics — Markets as Moral Architecture (Test Bench)
Primary innovations: engineered interdependence (1.2.5) — incentives aligned without coercion in market structures. bounded interdependence (1.2.6) — exit rights preserved so that exchange remains genuinely voluntary. Moral-Hazard Awareness (1.2.8) — detection of hidden cost structures, quiet enclosure, and incentive distortions. privacy by design (1.2.4) — information asymmetry bounded so that market transparency does not require personal exposure.
Secondary innovations: encoded objective law (1.2.2) encodes fairness constraints into market operations. Answerability (1.2.7) provides the governance architecture for market oversight.
Structural relationship: Derives from politics — it inherits the rights framework as what it tests. Functions as the test bench where political and social claims meet scarcity, incentive, exchange, risk, and scale. A bench result can falsify a specific design proposal; it cannot falsify the rights principle itself.

Reading the table: A domain with many primary carriers is structurally dense — RO's innovations do heavy work there. A domain with few or no primary carriers (metaphysics, consciousness) is one where RO's contribution is operational support for foundations that TO correctly built. Neither pattern is a problem. The distribution reflects where structural work was needed, not where symmetry was desired. Nine innovations are mapped here, not ten — standalone resilience folded into epistemic integrity's staged-judgment discipline (2026-08-18) and no longer carries its own row.
Change Log
- 18 Aug 26 (cont.) — Reorganized the domain-by-domain mapping into role groups (Foundation / Outward expression / Operative form / Test bench) in place of the earlier load-path order; replaced each domain's receives/passes framing with role-specific structural relationships; removed resilience as a standalone Virtue-domain primary carrier and as a row in Table 1.3.0-B (folded into epistemic integrity, now a three-member Accountability and Endurance cluster); reordered Table 1.3.0-B's columns to match the role grouping; corrected the "ten innovations" count in the teaser and lead paragraph to nine.
- 18 Aug 26 — Updated a citation from "art as feedback (1.2.10)" to "(1.2.9)" following that unit's renumbering, and removed the now-outdated "(1.2.9)" label from three mentions of resilience, since that number now belongs to art as feedback and resilience was retracted as a standalone pattern on 18 Aug 2026.
- 15 Mar 26 — Initial draft. Structural Map sidebar carrying the domain-by-domain innovation mapping, load-path connections, and summary distribution table (Table 1.3.0-B) for use as reference layer across Arc 3.
